Glen Johnson expects a big season from Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku after he returned to the West London club during this summer’s transfer window. Glen Johnson spoke about Lukaku and his expectation for him during a chat with Betting Odds. According to the former Liverpool, West Ham United and Chelsea right-back, the Belgian international has what it takes to have a very good season on his return to Stamford Bridge.

Retired England international Glen Johnson said Lukaku has already hit the ground running and he expects him to maintain that form throughout the course of what would be a long and hard season in the Premier League.

Lukaku left Chelsea at the end of his first spell at the club in 2014. Jose Mourinho was the Blues manager when he left for a loan spell at Merseyside club Everton at the start of the 2013/14 season. His loan deal was then turned to a permanent deal at the end of that one-year loan spell at Everton. The Everton loan move was the second one for Lukaku as a Chelsea player after he had impressed while on loan at West Brom in the previous season.

Belgian international hitman Lukaku returned to Chelsea after seven years this summer in a club-record deal worth £97m and he made a big impact on his second debut for the club. Lukaku made his second debut for Chelsea in the London Derby win over Arsenal. He celebrated the debut with a goal against the Gunners in the first half.

Lukaku was a thorn in the flesh of Arsenal defenders throughout the game. In addition to getting the first goal of the game, Lukaku also had a hand in the second goal from Reece James. Lukaku was the main attraction as Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-0 away from home.
